Hershey’s Unwrap March Madness contest

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

I’m not a big fan of college sports.  Actually, I’m not a fan of them at all.  College football?  Nope.  College basketball?  No.  But, I do like to tell the story on how I won a trip to Mexico by entering a March Madness pool and winning the thing when I had no idea what I was doing.  It was a radio contest.  I filled out my bracket and hoped for the best.  I forget the details, but in order to win, my team had to win it all as everybody else close to winning had picked the other team.  And son of a gun, they won.  And I was off to Mexico for a 4 day vacation.

I bring this up because Hershey is sponsoring a March Madness contest this year, called Unwrap March Madness.  (more…)

Another Update Sorely Needed

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

I know, I know.  I haven’t updated my wrapper page in quite some time. Wow…almost 3 months! I hope to soon, but I don’t know when. At least the comments were updated within the last month. Seems like the blog is easier to keep up with. At least you get a couple posts a month over here.

Nice Try

I sometimes wonder why people think they can get away with some things.  Police say an 18-year-old Ohio teenager ordered more than $37,000 of candy online and charged the bill to his former high school.  He used a purchasing number from  Middletown High School to order thousands of lollipops and candy bars from The Goodies Factory, a company that specializes in fundraising candy sales.  The candy company became suspicious, contacted the school and was told by detectives to send an empty box.  The kid accepted the delivery and was arrested.  He now faces two counts of felony telecommunications fraud.

Girl Scout Cookies

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

My web site is supposed to be about candy bar wrappers since that’s what I usually eat. But there are a few other junkfood items on there like Doritos, Fritos, Oreos, and more. So, I think it’s OK if we talk about Girl Scout cookies. It’s that time of the year again and you can’t go too far in my workplace without seeing a sheet from a parent selling cookies for their kids.
