Name That Candy

One of the things I was going to do with this blog was post questions I get from my Comments Page in hopes of increasing the chance of getting the questions answered. I kept forgetting to do this, but finally remembered to add this one.

Jerry from New Glarus, Wisconsin, says “I am going crazy trying to remember a candy bar. I ate these in the 50’s and 60’s. They were filled with maple or cherry covered with peanut chocolate. They were round and humped like a small hill. Packaging was red or tan cellephane. Please help.

Nothing rings a bell with me. It’s a little before my time. I tired to do some searching on the Internet and came up with some possibilities. Could it have been a version of Pearson’s Bun (which come in Maple and some other flavors), or, also from Pearson’s, Nut Goodie?

Sometimes, the problem with tracking down older candy is there used to be a lot of regional candy companies before the big three started taking over. So something you enjoyed in your neck of the woods might not have even been available a few states over. Do you know what candy Jerry’s asking about? If so, leave a comment below. Thanks!

Thanks, Laura. I emailed Jerry to see if that’s what he was looking for. BTW, Laura let me know that they are available on Amazon:

Cherry Mountain Bars (24/1.6 oz Bars)

Update…Jerry says it’s not Cherry Mountain. He says: “Close but that is not it. The general shape is close, but the key is the wrapper. These bars were wrapped in red cellophane if cherry and brown if maple. You could see through them. I grew up in Southwestern Wisconsin so now I am thinking it might have been only in that region.”

He also says it’s not the Maple Bun, which I thought it was. He said a lot of people suggest that, but it’s not it.
