Found the Strawberried Peanut Butter M&M’s

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Finally found the Strawberried Peanut Butter M&M’s today, which are out to promote the new Transformers movie.  I’ve been sorta looking for them since I heard about them, but couldn’t find them.  I did see a whole box of them at Sam’s Club, but didn’t want to buy a whole box in case I didn’t like them.  To me, they don’t sound very appetizing, but I hear people like them.  I haven’t tried them yet. 2009 Candy Expo Wrap Up

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Every year in Chicago, they have the All Candy Expo. This is something that I really want to go to. But unfortunately, it’s not open to the public. Candy type people get to go and I know other bigger blog type people get to go. I really wanted to try to get in this year and was going to look into it, but then I actually forgot about it until it was too late. (more…)

Interesting Grand Prize From NECCO

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

I like the idea, but am not crazy about the grand prize. The NECCO people are looking for 80 new expressions for their 2010 Valentine’s Day Sweethearts. You know, those little candy hearts with the sayings on them. If you think you got a winner, go to the contest website and enter your saying(s). You have to be at least 13 and this is open to residents of the US. (more…)

Steve Almond Article

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Just wanted to mention that Candyfreak: A Journey through the Chocolate Underbelly of America author Steve Almond had an article in the Wall Street Journal about candy doing well in recessions. If you like candy and candy history, I can’t recommend Steve Almond’s book enough. And if you get the book, make sure you check out the web sites listed in the back. You’ll find my old Tripod website before I decided to get my own domain name. I need to dig that book out and reread it.

New Products From Mars On The Way

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

I recently bought a Snickers bar that had a”Feeding America” logo on it. Also, you may have noticed Snickers putting different slogans on the bottom of their wrappers, like the Peanutopolis on this one. Well, this particular wrapper said “BAR HUNGER”. Of course, I bought it for the web site and was curious what it was about. So I did some Googling. And that lead to finding out even more coming from Mars this summer. (more…)

Another Quick Update

I did have time over the weekend to update the wrapper page. 24 new wrappers! Enjoy!

Update on Free Candy from Mars

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Just a quick update about the free chocolate that Mars is giving away each Friday. See this post for the details of my first try last week when I had to give up and let Laurie do it from her work. This week, much different story. I waited about 55 minutes before even trying and got through right away. No server issues, no ‘page not found’ errors. Free candy on the first try. I don’t know if the Mars people were ready for the rush this time or if less people tried, but it was a much smoother process. Unfortunately, there is a limit of four per household for the run of the promotion and I’m up to two already.

Also, I have scanned about 25 new wrappers and am in the process of getting them ready for uploading. Hopefully by the end of next weekend, they’ll be up. I’ll shoot for this weekend, but crap happens.

Update on the Dark Chocolate Reese’s

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Stayed home from work today and did some errands.  Included in my errands was a candy run, where I hit up various stores looking for new wrappers.  I did pretty well today, finding some new (to me) ones at Big Lots.  But the main reason for the candy run was to find the Dark Chocolate Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
