YouTube and Candy
I knew this was a mistake. YouTube is one of the biggest time sucks on the Internet. You search for one video, which leads to another, and another, and before you know it, it’s 2:30AM. Um, not that something like that has happened to me or anything.
The last time I updated my comments page, OJ from Algona wrote:
I just want to make sure that I’m not crazy. Was the original PB Twix wrapper yellow? With I believe orange writing? It was my favorite candy as a kid.
I knew the wrapper was yellow, but couldn’t remember what color the writing was. I’ve searched for images of the old Peanut Butter Twix wrapper before and could never find one. But YouTube to the rescue! Check out this old Peanut Butter Twix TV commercial. You actually don’t see the wrapper that much in the commercial (which is kinda weird for a commercial), but it looks orange. The picture’s a little grainy, so you could make the argument that it’s red.
Of course, in true YouTube fashion, this lead me to look for more candy bar commercials. And they’re all over YouTube. To this day, I still get comments on Bar None and PB Max…both candy bars still have a huge following even though they haven’t been available for years. Well, now you can relive the memories by checking out the TV commercials for PB Max and Bar None. There’s tons of Hershey and Reese’s commercials as well as a slew of others. But if you go to check them out, keep an eye on the clock. You could be there for hours and wonder how you started viewing candy commercials and ended up 3 hours later watching videos of cats playing.
(And I wasted another hour or so while writing this post. Damn you, YouTube!)
