Love/Hate Wal Mart

I love Wal Mart and I hate Wal Mart.  I hate Wal Mart because I know they come into towns and wipe out the small business competition because who can compete with their prices?  I also hate the long lines at my local Wal Mart.  I think this is because they can’t keep enough cashiers hired so most check out lines remain closed.  I also hate the stupid people (I hate people in general) who wander around Wal Mart talking on their cell phones, leaving their carts in the middle of the aisle so I can’t get by.  Oh, and I also hate Wal Mart because as big as my local Wal Mart is (it’s a super Wal Mart with a grocery section), often they are out of what I need or they’re restocking and the restocking people seem like they don’t give two craps about you as there’s boxes everywhere and they’ll just about push you over so they can restock shelves. I hate my local Wal Mart because they had those self check out lines but apparently they couldn’t handle the shoplifting (according to someone I asked) because none of them are ever open anymore…they used to be the quickest way out of the place.

I love Wal Mart because of the prices.  I do most of my food shopping there.  I love Wal Mart because they have Dark Chocolate Reese’s and they’re only 50 cents. Hmmm. Seems there’s a lot more to hate.

I do have a point to all this. I have a new “I hate my Wal Mart” entry. I hate my Wal Mart because I didn’t see the new limited edition coconut M&M’s until I was walking out the store and didn’t have the energy (or time) to turn around and get back in line. Why didn’t I see them until I was walking out, even though I was looking for them the entire time I was there (along with the Fudge Snickers that I can’t find either)? Because they were tucked way in the back of the section where you buy cigarettes and they’re only visible as you leave the store (you have to get in a special check out line if you want to buy cigarettes). What the heck? I’m sure they’re going to sell real well from there.

So last night after eating out for dinner, Laurie and I almost went back to Wal Mart to get a couple things for a Labor Day BBQ and so I can get the coconut M&M’s. But we were afraid of the long lines because apparently, at least around here, the thing to do on Friday nights is head to the Wal Mart and walk around aimlessly. At least I know where they’re at and I will pick them up eventually.

As far as them not having Dark Chocolate Reese’s anymore, I can only hope that’s temporary as I usually picked up three packs every time I went there. I’m not as concerned over this as I’m planning on saving myself some money and picking up a whole box at Sam’s Club next week.  Sorry for the rant…enjoy your weekend.
