Tasty Lottery Tickets

I don’t play the lottery much. We have a pool at work that plays the PowerBall when the jackpot approaches $200 million. And the same with the Mega Millions now that it’s available here in PA. And I occasionally buy some tickets on my own when the jackpot is up there (I have 5 tickets for tonight’s drawing…I don’t see how I can lose). I do buy scratch off tickets for Laurie every now and then. She likes them for fun. I think the most we won was maybe $5. But they can be fun.

I do feel bad for some of the people who I see in line while I’m getting my tickets. It looks obvious to me that some of these people just can’t afford to spend their money on lottery tickets, but here they are spending $30, $40, $50 on them. I think the most I ever spent was $10.

What does this have to do with a candy blog? Well, Hershey is in cahoots with one of the Pennsylvania Lottery’s latest scratch off games, simply called Reese’s, for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Tickets are $2 each and if you don’t win cash, you can enter a second chance drawing for Hershey bonus prizes. Try as I might, I could not find any information on what these bonus prizes are. This is not the first time Hershey and the PA Lottery got together. They had the Payday lottery tickets out in July of 2009, named after the Payday candy bar.

I’ve yet to buy any of these tickets, but since Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are one of my all time favorites, I have to buy a couple. And I have a coupon, thanks to Gus, the second most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania. I’ll let you know if I win.
