New Products From Mars
Every year I say I want to attend the Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago, and every year I forget. Not just anybody can go, so I don’t even know if I would qualify. But I forget to dig into it and then it comes and goes (it ended May 27th). All I can do is read the news stories and post (OK, re-post, really) the things I hear.
Today, it’s new stuff from Mars. I’m a little confused by the press release because it said this:
M&M’S® Pretzel Chocolate Candies are a fun new way to combine sweet and salty in every bite size piece. Available in May, each lentil features a crunchy, salted pretzel center covered in delicious M&M’S® Brand milk chocolate and coated in a colorful candy shell.
The press release came out on May 27th…the product is already out there. I’ve had them and I like them. I did a quick review in this post. I’m just nit picking because the release sounds like they’re coming out soon, but they’re already out.
In other news…the return of the Peanut Butter Snickers?
With everything there is to love about SNICKERS® —peanuts, caramel, nougat and milk chocolate—consumers will be nuts with the addition of peanut butter in the new SNICKERS® Brand Peanut Butter Squared. Available in December 2010, each singles pack will include two delicious square-shaped bars.
I don’t think the original Peanut Butter Snickers had nougat, but I can’t wait to try this to see if it’s close. The Peanut Butter Snickers was soooo good and I still get questions about them.
Continuing the Snickers brand line:
Made with ALL peanuts and caramel smothered in real milk chocolate, the limited-edition SNICKERS® Xtreme Bar, available in September 2010, satisfies hunger with five grams of protein per bar.
So I guess it’s a Snickers without the nougat? Interesting.
And the bad press release writing continues with this:

It’s an exciting time for candy lovers as the candy companies give a peek into what’s in the future. I just have to remember to start looking for these new Snickers bars when they hit the stores.
