Butterfinger is Going Green…Seth Green!!

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

OK, don’t think that I think I’m witty for the title to this post. I hate headlines like that and I’m being sarcastic and smarmy. And this being the Internet, sometimes you have to point out when you’re trying to be funny. That’s OK…I’m used to explaining my jokes. But the title is correct. You’ll soon see actor Seth Green in TV commercials for Butterfinger candy bars as he was named “Butterfinger Mouthpiece”. (more…)

Super Bowl Contest, Questions, And An Update

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Snickers is still doing their stupid little Snickers language. Sorry, I don’t get it. I mean, I understand it, but I don’t like it. But nobody asked me. They’re carrying it on though through their Snickers NFL 2009 Sweepstakes contest where you could be a Super Bowl Chompion. Get it? Chompion instead of champion. Ho ho!! Hee hee! What am I, 5 years old? At any rate, grab a specially marked Snickers, enter a code, cross your fingers. Full rules at the web site, including how to enter without buying a Snickers. (more…)

It Really Is A Limit Of Four

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Every Friday, I have a reminder on my Outlook calendar at work set for 9AM to remind me to get my free chocolate from the Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act, which I first blogged about here. According to the rules, you can only get up to four coupons during the giveaway period which ends 9/25. But I thought maybe that was just there to try to limit people and maybe I’ll still get a free coupon if I keep trying. (more…)

Free Candy Coups Have Arrived

Friday, June 5th, 2009

I blogged about the free candy from Mars and how I had such problems the first day. Well, happy to say that I got my first free chocolate coupon this past Tuesday. I actually got two coupons, which first lead me to believe I got in twice on that first Friday. You may remember that I had trouble with the web site from work and eventually had to have Laurie get me one from her work. When two coupons showed up on one day, with the address showing Michael on one and Mike on the other, I thought maybe I did score two. I probably used Mike when I filled out the form and I can see Laurie using Michael. (more…)

Interesting Grand Prize From NECCO

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

I like the idea, but am not crazy about the grand prize. The NECCO people are looking for 80 new expressions for their 2010 Valentine’s Day Sweethearts. You know, those little candy hearts with the sayings on them. If you think you got a winner, go to the contest website and enter your saying(s). You have to be at least 13 and this is open to residents of the US. (more…)

Sleepover at the Smithsonian Contest

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Hershey’s is throwing some of their promotional budget behind the new “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” movie that opens May 22nd. It’s a follow up to the Ben Stiller “Night at the Museum” movie and the new one features some people from the first one. You might have seen the TV commercial tying the movie with Hershey’s Kisses. But that’s just the beginning. (more…)

Madagascar 2 Contest

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

I finally watched “Madagascar - Escape 2 Africa” the other day. Well, actually, I watched the first 40 minutes or so during my lunch at work and didn’t bother watching the rest. I’m starting to think I’m getting too old for the animated films or something. It’s been a while since I enjoyed one. Saw Bolt at the cheapie theater. It was OK. Just OK. Rented Wall-E…didn’t really like it. Toy Story, I liked. I’m sure I’ve seen an animated film since then that I liked, but maybe not. Cars…just OK. Ratatouille…eh. (more…)

They’re Back in June!!!

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Some Reese’s news to share. First, the most exciting news (to me). According to reports, starting in June, Hershey’s will permanently add Dark Chocolate Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to their Reese’s line. I’m excited that these reports are saying the addition is permanent. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you may remember me getting a little upset when I couldn’t find the Dark Chocolate Reese’s that were released with the Batman movie. Hopefully they will really be permanent as they’re quite good. They’ll be available in their regular two-cup packages and as Miniatures. (more…)

Hershey’s Unwrap March Madness contest

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

I’m not a big fan of college sports.  Actually, I’m not a fan of them at all.  College football?  Nope.  College basketball?  No.  But, I do like to tell the story on how I won a trip to Mexico by entering a March Madness pool and winning the thing when I had no idea what I was doing.  It was a radio contest.  I filled out my bracket and hoped for the best.  I forget the details, but in order to win, my team had to win it all as everybody else close to winning had picked the other team.  And son of a gun, they won.  And I was off to Mexico for a 4 day vacation.

I bring this up because Hershey is sponsoring a March Madness contest this year, called Unwrap March Madness.  (more…)
