Multiple Contests from Mars

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

I ran across some news on Mars and some contests they’re planning and was going to do a post on each one. But I guess I can just combine them all into one long post. The contests include a Valentine’s Day promotion with your chance to win a trip to Paris, and, with the Super Bowl coming up, another contest where you can win tickets to next year’s big game. Mars and NASCAR Still Partners

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

I was going to try to come up with something witty for the title of this post…Mars and NASCAR Driving Together…Mars Still Rolling With NASCAR…but usually those types of headlines are not witty and sound stupid. (more…)

Free Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Although I don’t think there are any around my area, if you visit a Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop on Election Day (November 4th) from 5 to 8PM and can prove you voted, you get a free scoop of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream! (more…)

Eating Candy Can Make You a Millionaire

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Mars has kicked off a Halloween-themed game where you could win $1 million. Seek out the specially marked bags and individual sizes of M&M’s, Snickers, 3 Musketeers, Twix, Milky Way, Skittles, or Starburst products, head to the Halloween Million promotion web site, and enter UPC codes. You are then redirected to that brand’s room in the Million Dollar Mansion.

It’s in this room where you can win. There are clickable items that will reveal if you’re an instant winner. Prizes include free candy and M&M branded Visa cards loaded with a thousand bucks. And, win or lose, you’ll be entered in the drawing for the million dollars. There are also other games that you can play. You got until October 31st, so do it before Halloween.

Plus, Mars is offering new items, like a Halloween M&M’s blend called Cool Ghoul’s Mix (new colors), and Snickers Rockin’ Nut Road (which I have tried and do not like). Good luck!

Hershey Pays for Your Movie

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

The Hershey Company is really active this summer with a couple different contest. And now, they’ll give you free admission to the movies. of course, the catch is that you have to buy some of their stuff.

Buy specially marked packages of Hershey’s Mega Movie 10% bonus bags to get Mega Movie Bonus points. Collect 15 bonus points, get one free movie admission, valued up to $8.50 (which really doesn’t cover the cost of a movie in a lot of places).

Participating brands include Twizzlers, Hershey’s Miniatures, Hershey’s nuggets, Kisses, Reese’s and York products. Twizzlers candy bags are worth three points each, while the bonus bags of Hershey’s candy are equivalent to five points each. So I’m estimating you’ll have to buy between $10 and $15 worth of candy to get your ‘free’ ticket. Cut out the point decals and fill out mail-in forms available at in-store displays or at Hershey’s website. The promotion runs through March 1 and there is a limit of four movie admissions per household. This would be a good time to be someone who cleans offices at night and check the trash for empty bags.

Willy Wonka, Giant Chewy Nerds, and Oompa Loompas

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Willy Wonka recently claimed that the Oompa Loompas can’t come up with a song for Giant Chewy Nerds. So he’s outsourcing the work to the the kids. It’s a nationwide search for a new song to describe Giant Chewy NERDS. US residents between 8 and 18 need to come up with an original song about Giant Chewy NERDS, video tape themselves singing it, and head to Wonka.com to submit their video. You got until September 21st and music and images are provided on the website to help things along. Or you can find one of the Wonkalicious Lounge events (hopefully) at a mall near you and submit that way.

The winner gets to fly to LA to professionally record their song with the help of Raven-Symoné, best known for her “That’s So Raven” role (a show I admit I will watch on occasion). But those of us with no talent (or too old) aren’t left out. We can go to the web site and check out the videos. If you rate a video, you’ll be entered in a weekly contest to win prizes like Giant Chewy NERDS candy, t-shirts, and plush toys. One grand prize winner will win a year’s supply of Wonka candy. Go to the web site for all the rules and details.

Hershey’s With Another Contest

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

While I’ve yet to see the gas promotion wrappers from Hershey in stores around here that I discussed in this post (perhaps Pittsburgh isn’t one of the markets they’re targeting?), Hershey’s gone onto their next promotion…the Olympics.

It’s your chance to win one of more than 100,000 prizes. The grand prize is a 2008 Chevy Tahoe. If you win the Tahoe, I hope you also win some gas in their other promotion to help fill up that bad boy. Look for specially marked packages of various Hershey products like Hershey bars, Kit Kats, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, etc., and check the wrapper to see if you won. Other prizes include 42-inch Panasonic Plasma TVs (5 to be given away) and some 100,000 $10 Visa cards. This is a contest where I would rather end up with the first place TV instead of the grand prize Tahoe. Well, I guess I could sell the Tahoe and then buy a Plasma TV. Contest runs through March 30th, 2009, and is to remind us that Hershey is the official U.S. Olympic Team Supplier for the 2008 Olympic Games.

If you’re looking to get into the Olympic spirit, you can head to Hershey’s Olympic site and see how you can get a free set of U.S. Olympic Team Rings Wristbands with qualifying purchases and get all the details on the contest.

Music Teacher to Sing in Tonight’s All Star Game

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

I really don’t follow baseball anymore (I’m a hockey guy), but I did go to a Pirates game last week thanks to free tickets from work. And one thing I always did like about going to a game was the 7th inning stretch. Well, the All Star game is tonight in NY at Yankee Stadium and Adam Wilbur will be leading the crowd in singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh inning stretch. Who’s Adam Wilbur?

He’s a high school band teacher from Medford, NY, who won a contest sponsored by Baby Ruth. Adam and his brother submitted a video of him singing (with his brother on the tuba), got picked as one of three finalists, and won the sing-off held yesterday as part of the MLB Fanfest. I can’t sing at all and even if I could, I’d be terrified to sing in front of all those people.

Baskin Robbins Celebrates Ice Cream Month

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

While I don’t talk much ice cream on this web site, I do like it.  A lot.  And now Baskin-Robbins has come up with a contest that has a name that is ripe for disgusting jokes…none of which you’ll see me doing.  But I’m thinking of them.  July is National Ice Cream Month and Baskin-Robbins is celebrating with Lick-A-Thon events on July 17.  Ahem.  OK, family friendly site.  Let’s keep that in mind.  You can challenge friends, family, etc, to a “lick race” (their words, not mine) to see who can lick a scoop of Oreo Cookies ‘n Cream ice cream the fastest.  Of course, you’re trying to become the ultimate Lick Champion at participating stores across the US.  This all goes with Baskin-Robbins going crazy with the Oreo line up which now features 19 Oreo ice cream products.  By the way, check with your local Baskin Robbins because while I saw this story in a couple different places on the Internets, I see no mention on their web site.
