The Super Bowl is this Sunday and if you’re like me, you look forward to the commercials. One reason why I started the web site was because I’m interested in how companies get us to buy their products through packaging. Advertising also interests me. A bill that passed the Ohio House earlier this week would eliminate or restrict snack foods sold at school stores and vending machines at schools. Generally speaking, items sold must have fewer than 200 calories, contain no trans fat and have limited saturated fat, processed sugar and sodium. Plus, beverages cannot have more than 150 calories per serving. The ban would not affect sales of snack foods and beverages at after-school events. Now, the bill heads to the Senate. (more…)
A lot of criminals aren’t the smartest people in the world. Case in point, what happened recently in Middletown, Ohio. A 32-year-old man was recently released after a disorderly conduct arrest. On his way out, he apparently decided to take two candy bars and a toboggan cap. (more…)
Happy Black Friday! I’m writing this from the comfort of my home. No, I am not venturing out with all the mad shoppers, but Laurie and I do have to swing by one of her co-workers house and check in on her cat while she’s away. While we’re out, there is talk of going to the cheapie movie theater and seeing The Invention of Lying. 99 cent movies. Can’t beat it. The theater is in a mall-type setting, but one of those malls that’s barely surviving and it won’t be until this afternoon so we should be good. (more…)
I love stories like this. A man from Woodburn, Oregon, has been convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for a home invasion type burglary. A piece of candy was his downfall. (more…)
