Chocolate Cruise
Sunday, December 27th, 2009Laurie and I have talked about going on a cruise, but have yet to pull the trigger. I think I found a cruise I’d like to take, but it’s a bit pricy and it sails out of Rome. It’s a “chocolate cruise” from luxury line Windstar Cruises. (more…)
Candy Closer to Being Banned in Ohio Schools
Friday, December 18th, 2009A bill that passed the Ohio House earlier this week would eliminate or restrict snack foods sold at school stores and vending machines at schools. Generally speaking, items sold must have fewer than 200 calories, contain no trans fat and have limited saturated fat, processed sugar and sodium. Plus, beverages cannot have more than 150 calories per serving. The ban would not affect sales of snack foods and beverages at after-school events. Now, the bill heads to the Senate. (more…)
Things You Shouldn’t Do…Steal Candy From Police
Friday, December 4th, 2009A lot of criminals aren’t the smartest people in the world. Case in point, what happened recently in Middletown, Ohio. A 32-year-old man was recently released after a disorderly conduct arrest. On his way out, he apparently decided to take two candy bars and a toboggan cap. (more…)
Cyber Monday and Dark Chocolate Reese’s
Friday, November 27th, 2009Happy Black Friday! I’m writing this from the comfort of my home. No, I am not venturing out with all the mad shoppers, but Laurie and I do have to swing by one of her co-workers house and check in on her cat while she’s away. While we’re out, there is talk of going to the cheapie movie theater and seeing The Invention of Lying. 99 cent movies. Can’t beat it. The theater is in a mall-type setting, but one of those malls that’s barely surviving and it won’t be until this afternoon so we should be good. (more…)

I Did a Bad Bad Thing
Friday, November 6th, 2009Everything in moderation, right? I try. I really do. But I can’t with candy. I really need to start exercising and cutting back. It’s true what they say…so much harder to get into shape the older you are. So what I did yesterday did not help. No, not at all. (more…)
Candy for Troops and Halloween Wrap Up
Monday, November 2nd, 2009Wanted to mention this real quick since I just found out about it today and tomorrow is the last day. The Oakland County sheriff’s department in Michigan is collecting candy today and tomorrow to send out to the troops. They want individually wrapped pieces of candy, but no chocolate. I think that’s a pretty nifty idea and a way to get rid of some of that Halloween candy if you’re like me and are too tempted to eat any and all candy that is just sitting there. Check out the Oakland County sheriff’s department’s website for more information. This is something that if you don’t have it in your area, you should think about starting one. Just something to let them know we’re thinking about them. (more…)
Save on Halloween Candy
Sunday, October 25th, 2009Hope I’m not too late with a Halloween candy post. I wasn’t going to bother since the information is pretty much the same every year. But one article caught my eye and I thought it was interesting. It’s the How to Save on Halloween Candy article on the Bargaineering.com website. (more…)
