On 12/22/14, Carl from Pincourt, Quebec, Canada, wrote: "Hi Mike. Recently I went to the dollar store in my local mall to buy a chocolate bar and I found a Snickers with almonds bar. I bought it then I tried it and it was absolutely awful."

Mike says "Hey Carl...good to hear from you. It's been a while. If you had asked me if I like the Snickers with Almonds bar, I would have said no. But apparently I liked them at one point. Maybe it's something else I'm thinking about. At any rate, I haven't had one in years. Honestly, I wasn't even sure if they were still available in the US. But it appears they are"

On 12/17/14, SIERRAH from OKLHOMA wrote: "I love your Reese's. This is my favorite candy."

Mike says "Thanks! But they're not MY Reese's. They're a product of the H. B. Reese Candy Company, a division of the Hershey Foods Corporation."

On 11/16/14, kennedy from los alamitos wrote: "my British friend who i met on vacation in cali at a place called camp land(it was really fun) said his favorite candy was 21 (is it real because i cant seem to find it)"

Mike says "I haven't heard of it but that doesn't mean much. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. I tried Amazon and usually if it's out there, it's on Amazon. But I couldn't find it on there either. Doesn't mean it isn't out there. I couldn't find it. If you know what Kennedy's friend was talking about, let me know!"

On 10/31/14, Leeroy from CA wrote: "Hey Mike, do you remember a reeses cup that came in a blue colored package? I think it was an older version of the crunchy peanut butter one, but it tasted a different/a lot better than the ones they sell now. I think the recipe was different or maybe im just being nostalgic. This would have been way back in the day, maybe mid to late 90s. Cool site by the way."

Mike says "Thanks! I'm sure you did exactly what I tried...Googling it. I don't see any mention of a blue Reese's wrapper. I guess it's not out of the question but you would think it would come up in a Google search. They do use blue in their Fast Break wrapper, which actually started out blue. And the Sidekick (Fast Break in Canada, which is no longer available) also had a blue wrapper, but no mention of Reese's. It was marketed under the Hershey name. Maybe the blue Fast Break is what you were thinking of?"

On 10/30/14, Connie from CuyahoGa Falls, OH, wrote: "Can u buy the mint kit. Kat candy now??"

Mike says "Well, yes and no. Can you buy it in a store in the US? No. Can you buy it? Yes. It's expensive, but you can get the Mint Kit Kat from Amazon. It's the Japanese version. You can get a lot of the odder Japanese Kit Kats on Amazon. Oh I wish you could buy them in stores in the US. Be on the lookout around Christmas. Sometimes you can find Mint Kit Kats in a Kit Kat variety Christmas bag. Not sure if they've done that in the past couple years though."

On 10/12/14, Diane from Pittsburgh, PA, wrote: "Would this wrapper be worth anything with Chubby Checker's autograph on it?"

Mike says "I assume you're talking about the Chubby's Checkerbar. I would guess anything with Chubby Checker's autograph would be worth something. But I have no idea what it would be worth. But it would be neat!"

On 09/09/14, Ryan from Portland, Oregon, wrote: "Too bad I missed this in 2004 ... I remember when I was in high school in the late 80s (grad. 1990) that Hershey had a "White Chocolate w/almonds" candy bar (think it might've called "Alpine White" at one time) ... and it was AWESOME! The almonds were chopped up, but it must've disappeared in the early 90s ... such a shame. My favorite."

Mike says "I assume you're talking about the Hershey's White Chocolate with Almonds. They were pretty good. I'm sorry that they're not around anymore. Just one correction on your comment though...the Alpine White was made by Nestle, not Hershey."

On 08/29/14, nicole from new jersey wrote: "i just wanted to stop by &make some suggestions. well, I thought it'll be a great idea 4 u to make cake wrappers, too, i know this si a candy wrapper but... i know lot of people looking 4 cake box templates.... thx!!"

Mike says "I have eaten all the candy from the wrappers on the site. It's kinda one of my rules. So if I started posting cake boxes (which is what I think you're asking), that means I would have to eat the cake. I don't eat a lot of cake. Can't remember the last time I made a cake at home from a box. So don't count on me adding cake boxes. But maybe you can create your own web site!"

On 05/28/14, John from Prescott, Arizona, wrote: "I miss my dark kit kats. Please make them available again."

And on 07/04/14, Evelyn from Salem wrote: "I remember the dark chocolate kit kat bar. I have not seen it anywhere since a couple of years ago. Where can I find them now?"

Mike says "I grouped these two questions since they're basically the same. Although maybe John thinks I'm responsible for actually making them available (I'm not). Maybe it's different in other parts of the country but both Dark Chocolate Kit Kats and White Chocolate Kit Kats are available at my local Target. I thought this was the case and was in Target the other day so I double checked and there they were right at the check-out. I think they were at K-Mart too but it's been a while since I checked there. Sometimes drug stores are a good place to check. Or a warehouse club like Sam's might have them by the box. If you still can't find them, you can get them on Amazon. Good luck!"

On 05/03/14, Russell from Woodbury, mn, wrote: "Me on the other hand loved these peanutbutter cups I wish they would come back around"

Mike says "Not sure which peanut butter cup you're referring to. I know when Reese's was coming out with limited edition peanut butter cups, there were some I didn't like."

On 04/29/14, steven from teaneck wrote: "is nestle overload still around?"

Mike says "Good question. I haven't seen them around for a while. I'm going to say no. There's nothing about Overload on the Nestle web site. And a big sign...they're not on Amazon. If it's for sale anywhere, it's usually on Amazon too."

On 04/27/14, Tonya from blytheville, ar, wrote: "bring back reeses inside out pls"

Mike says "Unfortunately, not my call. You should try contacting Reese's through the Hershey's website 'contact me' page."

Candy wrappers, cereal boxes, and other food packaging are often the subjects of questions. I am really impressed with your collection. You would do well in our contest.

Part of the contest is a set of 30 pictures we are given, we have to ID and research these pictures because questions will be asked about them. I was hoping you would be willing to look at some of them. We have figured out most of them but haven't found a food package of any type yet. There is always a food package of some type in these pictures."

Mike says "Ah crap. I dropped the ball on this one by not getting back to you right away. Totally forgot about it and, from searching on the Internet, I'm too late now. Sorry Jason."

Mike says "Hey Carl...good to hear from you again. Been a while. It's been years since I had Milk Duds. I do like them but guess that when I buy candy, they're usually not an option. I don't see them very often outside the movie theater. Maybe I should be on the look out and get a box soon."

Mike says "Not sure what you're asking...if I know how much it's worth or if I have any information on it. Unfortunately, I don't have the answer to either of those. I know there were M&M Star War wrappers like this one in 2005. But that one says it's 18 of 72."

On 03/26/14, Lizzie from Iqaluit, Nunavut, wrote: "Nut Milk chocolate was one my favorite chocolate bars. Do they still make them?"

Mike says "First off, not that you would lie, but if you're really from Iqaluit, wow. You guys are really up there, huh? Never heard of Iqaluit so I googled it.

So, back to Nut Milk. I know I bought that wrapper ten years ago but I'm amazed at how little information I could find on Nut Milk on the Internet. Based on the wrapper, it's a product of Hershey Canada (but looks like it was made by Lowney's Chocolates at one point and even has the Lowney's label on the wrapper), but there's no mention of it on Hershey's site. So I doubt it's still being made."

On 02/17/14, Chris from Townsend, Delaware, wrote: "Wow, I just now found your site. This is a very old product. I think it came out in 2005? Anyway I was just looking around for reviews on Reese's Limited Edition Peanut Butter Lovers Peanut Butter Cups. I found these, along with I think it was Dark Chocolate (maybe Fudge?) Reese's. I hated the Dark Chocolate / Fudge, whatever it was. The Peanut Butter Lovers ones were strange. I agree that the outer shell was a weird peanut butter. It was almost like a peanut butter flavored chocolate with the actual peanut butter just inside the center of the cup. I thought it was okay, but it really wasn't anything I was expecting. Since, I too like the peanut butter that Reese's uses, and bigger portions of it, I'll stick with either the Reese's Big Cups or the Reese's Easter Eggs. Those Easter Eggs have a great chocolate to peanut butter ratio. Probably just a heads up to anyone else reading.... Don't try any of the limited edition Reese's products. They are terrible!"

Mike says "I agree that the Big Cups and the Easter Eggs are the best...in my opinion. But I did like the limited fudge ones and enjoyed the Elvis ones."

THANK YOU"

Mike says "It looks like these aren't being made right now. If you are having a hard time trying to find something, check out the company's web site to see if you can find them there. I didn't find them listed. Also, a good place to check is Amazon's Candy & Chocolate section. Generally, if it's available, it's on Amazon."

Mike says "At first I thought I was going to have to pull out the ol' 'you have to be more specific...which wrapper' line. But now I think I know what you mean. I'm guessing you're talking about the dots at the top-right and top-left of this Halloween Kitkat wrapper. That's just one example. I've seen them on others and Reese's seems to like little squares instead of dots. I've often wondered what they were too. I've always assumed they had something to do with whoever was printing the actual wrappers. So, thanks to your question, I finally decided to try to figure it out. Looks like I was on the right track."

Mike says "As far as printing, you can right click on a wrapper and choose 'save as' and save it to your PC. Then print it from there. I'm taking your comment about my best wrappers as meaning some of my favorite wrappers, and not my favorite candy bars. So I ran through the list quickly and came up with these (in no particular order):
mint Aero: I like the color and the bubbles.
Bounty: looks refreshing.
Red, white, and blue Dots: lots of color.
Heidi's Yogurt Fruit Cremes: because it makes me laugh.
Lemonhead and Friends: nice and colorful.
Lion: come on...it has a lion on the front.
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - Elvis Peanut Butter and Banana Creme: come on...it's got Elvis on the front.
Yorkie: I like the blue color and the advertising makes me laugh.

Their wrapper was exactly as the wrapper on a milky way bar except the wrapper was semi-translucent but not clear enough to actually see the bar itself. The lettering was in the same style and size as the milky way bar. I remember the white coated bar that was the same as the milky way bar and the forever yours bar but I don't remember what it was called. Also I do not remember the white coated bar in that time period but decades later. When I was young if you asked for a forever yours you got a dark chocolate covered milky way, and I have eaten many boxes of them so I am positive about what they were called and what they looked like. Thanks."

Mike says "First, so sorry to cause you so much pain. Of course, since you claim you won't be back, you won't see my apology. But for my many other fans, let's answer your concerns anyway."

"Swoops was a tough call. I could have split up the Reese's Swoops, Hershey's Peppermint Swoops, and York Swoops into their individual company's section. But I decided since there were more than one variety and "Swoops" is so prominent on the package, I would keep them together and file them under "S". Doesn't much matter now since they no longer make Swoops."

"As to your second point, I can see why you would be concerned since the name of the web site contains the words "candy bar wrappers". But if you read the opening paragraph,, you would have been properly warned that this is a "web site devoted to chocolate wrappers (and other junk food wrappers)". Doritos are most definitely junk food and therefore, fit the site. You were properly warned. If you proceeded after the first page, that's on you."

Plus I have bought a few oldies at flea markets or antique shows. In addition I collect old candy boxes from the pre 1970s. I especially like Halloween boxes, I found your site wonderful.

I do have one question, how do you remove candy bars w/o damaging the wrappers? I work at it and am pretty good, but try to get the candy out w/o tearing the thin wrappers. You also scan them when they are laying flat and obviously open all the way so one can see both sides at once. When I buy a new unusual candy bar, I always buy 2 in case I ruin one opening it."

Mike says "Wow...20 year's worth of wrappers. That's awesome. I've mentioned before that my collection is just digital...I don't keep the wrappers after I scan them so I don't know how many boxes my 'collection' would fill!

As far as how I open them, someone asked me that a few years ago so I'm going to cheat and copy my answer here. You'll notice that I too buy more than one in case I rip it too much: When I first started the site, wrappers were much easier to open. They must have changed something...either they're thinner or different material because it's harder now. First thing I do is buy 3 or 4 of the same wrapper...just in case! If it's your average candy wrapper...basically rectangular...I'll try to pull apart one end at the seam. Sometimes, I'll use the candy bar itself as leverage, trying to get at least a small opening going right where the back seam meets the end. Kinda like opening a bag of potato chips or something. Sometimes I try both ends because it seems one end is usually easier than the other. Then I carefully open one end completely. This is usually where I mess up the most.

After the one end is open, I work on the back, separating right along the back seam. This either goes great or I rip it beyond repair. Then, when you get to the other end, it's a lot easier to open that seam. Lastly, after I scan the wrapper, I crop out any ends that are too embarrassing to show. Most wrappers have some damage and you have to go slow. Oh, and make sure they're not cold. Seems like it's harder when the wrapper is cold (like right out of the fridge). I still remember the wrapper that gave me the most trouble...the Lion from the UK, although this 5th Avenue actually looks worse."

I miss the old boxes though when you used to punch in the end and rip off the top. And I can do without the little tins they come in now. I have noticed some interesting flavors (none that I can remember), but I can't see me buying anything but the Tasty Klair."

Oh, OK...wait. I did some searching and found this article. I was unaware of the perceived change in quality. I haven't noticed since I don't get to eat Tastykakes that often and when I do, it's almost always the Tasty Klair and/or the Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes. I haven't noticed a difference, but I'm probably not the best person to ask.

It was Clarence Crane of Cleveland, Ohio, who invented Lifesavers in 1912. He sold the rights to Edward John Noble the very next year. It was Noble who created the tin-foil wrappers (later switched to aluminum foil in 1925) instead of the cardboard rolls that Clark was using. Whether that counts as 'designing' the wrapper, I don't know. I don't know if you mean who actually designed the graphics, etc."

And by in season, I mean they're only sold during the colder months of the year. I got this info from the Tasty Kake Sales/Delivery guy a couple of years back. I don't know exactly when that time period starts and ends; but I've only had luck finding them between Christmas and March as those are the time of the year when I make it back to the Virginia area (holidays and spring break for the kids). And, your observation is right: they don't sit on the shelves for long. They're gone within an hour or two of being delivered. Third, I recently started the Weight Watchers Points system and shed over 35 pounds, which puts me about 10 pounds into the 'overweight' catagory on the BMI chart. But I don't trust that chart because if I lost ten more pounds, I think I would look really bad...like, too skinny. One of the best parts about the plan is I can continue to eat chocolate, as long as it fits into that day's point range. So stop judging."

The Phoenix Candy Company introduced them in 1962, and now they are owned by the Farley's & Sathers Candy Company who, along with some other candies, make a lot of those peg board bagged candies you'll see offering things like butterscotch disks, spearmint leaves, etc.

Thanks for posting that pic...with the UPC and nutrition info on it can you place a rough date? The form of the letters seems to be a little different than my 35+ year old memories."

Mike says "Glad you enjoyed the pic. The wrapper was bought in late 2004 on a trip to Canada."
